In 2018 MEP finalised a detailed business plan for the Al Wusta Fisheries Company which was accepted by the board and implementation commenced targeting Scad. The MEP team had identified an industrial resource which had never been commercially exploited and initial fishing trials were successful. The Jawharat, pictured below, is one of several vessels purchased by Al Wusta Fisheries and is landing Scad for export across the globe.
