MEP have been contracted by the Oil and Gas company, Anadarko, to complete a three-year work programme of baseline data collection in the Northern province of Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.
The work will include the completion of a registration process (to identify effected fishers and collectors), the monitoring of fish catch prices throughout the local communities (for a two year period) and the geographic assessment of fishing and collection activities (to determine the physical location of sea and shore based activities).
This information will all feed into the company’s fisher compensations strategy ahead of possible development of the area for offshore gas extraction over the next decade.
