MEP were contracted by the World Bank to provide guidance for climate change resilience in West African fisheries. The Objectives of this assignment include;
(1) Provide ongoing strategic guidance and technical support to the project implementation in Liberia and Sierra Leone. Provided technical support and guidance on various issues related to the fisheries sector in various countries.
(2) Provide intellectual leadership and technical expertise in integrating innovative Monitoring, Control, and Surveillance (MCS) technology solutions to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of fisheries management.
MEP conducted an assessment of fish stocks on the Western coast of Africa, considering the potential exploitation of small pelagic species stocks against current catch levels. The assessment also considered the projected effects of climate change on the fishery in the medium to long term, and recommended adaptations.
