MEP were contracted by the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) in Al Wusta Governorate, Oman, to complete a fisheries raw material and marketing analysis. MEP were tasked with determining the potential raw material which may be available for processing in the Fisheries Industrial Zone (FIZ). All current fisheries and aquaculture initiatives in Oman were analysed to determine the extent of exploitation and the potential for further development. This was supported by a market assessment (local, regional and international) to consider in what forms this potential raw material may be best sold in the future (and therefore the anticipated demand for processing activities in the FIZ). From here, MEP were able to make low, medium and high level space allocation predictions based on known processing requirements in other parts of the world. The final report will help guide SEZAD on the future development of the FIZ, potential space allocation and rental income expectations for the site.
