MEP have been contracted by the Oil and Gas company, Anadarko to complete a two-year work programme developing new fishery livelihood opportunities in the Northern province of Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.
The work will include the completion of fishing trials with new fishing methods, the supply of Fish Aggregation Devices (FADs) in the region and the provision of post-harvest training courses (to help improve the quality of landed fish catches). The aim is to help improve and develop the current fishing and marketing opportunities for locally effected fishers in the region.
This information will all feed into the company’s fisher compensations strategy, ahead of possible development of the area for offshore gas extraction over the next decade.
