This project in Djibouti was intended to maximise the potential of the local fisheries sector. This sector is faced with difficulties with development and exports and the Government has prioritised this sector for improvement. This first evaluation mission was organised to conduct an analysis of the existing circumstances and to propose a plan of action for reinforcing the capacity for development of the fisheries sector in Djibouti. Following this evaluation, the mission cited two major recommendations for development: the acquisition of equipment and the implementation of 5 support programmes (support to the CA, support to artisanal fisheries, support to industries, support to the National Food Testing Laboratory and lastly, support to the geochemical laboratory at the CERD (Djibouti Study and Research Centre). These developments were carried out by MEP staff.
