MEP were contracted by the WWF, to review and update the Mafia Island Marine Park (MIMP) General Management Plan (GMP) in Tanzania. The project involved a thorough stakeholder consultation process with all actors who have an interest or influence in the GMP, as well as a literature review and assessment of Marine Protected Area (MPA) best practices which could be applied to MIMP. An additional strand of work was the consideration of Environmental and Social Safeguards throughout the consultancy which resulted in the development of an Environmental, Social Management Plan (ESMP).
