The global aquaculture industry – when aquatic animals and plants are farmed rather than caught from wild stocks – is the fastest growing food production system in the world, with more seafood now produced by farms than caught in fisheries. Our projects support the sustainable expansion of the industry while ensuring local communities benefit from food security and economic development. In addition, we’re one of the few companies that specialise in the business side of fisheries and aquaculture due diligence ahead of investment, sale or takeover.
In our work, we focus on the sustainable development of aquaculture systems which use innovative solutions and a circular economy approach to minimise waste, pollution and other negative impacts. Whether it’s a small-scale shrimp farm in Vietnam or an intensive salmon farm in Norway, our development plans contribute to the blue economy and provide enhanced food security and economic development for local communities.
Our experience spans several species and production systems including temperate and tropical finfish species (e.g. salmon, pangasius, tilapia, sea bass and sea bream), shrimps and prawns, seaweed, molluscs, aquaponic systems and integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) and more. As such, we can support your business no matter the species, country or size (from SMEs through to integrated producers). Our services include:
- Knowledge transfer, including training and capacity building
- Aquaculture improvement plans
- Development and expansion planning
- Operational and financial modelling for aquaculture businesses
- Environmental and social commitment plans
- Due diligence and feasibility studies
- Value chain assessments
